Maggie's little sister Ellen, who has the honor of serving as Maggie's maid of honor, lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. She works in the film industry as a grip, which is a technician who supports the lighting and camera departments. In her rare time off, she takes care of her beautiful cat Murphy who is turning 5 soon.

Best Man

Joel had the great fortune to grow up with Kyle as his friend, mentor, role model, and older brother. Growing up sharing a room meant the two of them were always together as kids, and their shared hobbies over the years - taiko, rock climbing, cross country - have only brought them closer. Joel has been so excited to get to know Maggie since she and Kyle started dating, and is even more excited to be getting her as a sister-in-law :) He's been very happy to see the two of them more often now that they live only 10 minutes away!

Lauren met Maggie sometime after Kyle and Maggie's time in Yunnan and sometime before their move to Los Angeles (where she lives and works). Since Kyle's days of gushing about his new crush over Skype from Chuxiong she has eagerly anticipated the day Maggie would become her sister-in-law. She is so happy for Maggie to join the family and looks forward to many future shared chocolate xiao long bao.

Bob is Kyle's soon-to-be brother-in-law. He met Maggie almost 26 years ago, but didn't meet Kyle until she introduced them in 2018. Bob is excited to get a new brother, especially one with so many shared interests - rock climbing, music, and spending time outside. He lives in Missoula, Montana with his wife Robin, where he works as a software developer when he's not at the climbing gym, remodeling his kitchen, or fermenting something.

Robin is Maggie's newly minted sister-in-law. She grew up in a girl-heavy house and is super excited to get another brother. Robin lives in Missoula, Montana and loves rock climbing, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. She is also getting her Master's degree in forest ecology, which leaves plenty of time for the aforementioned activities.

My name is Brandon Lim and I honestly don't remember when I met Kyle but I've known him my entire life as he's my first cousin! At a young age, Kyle and I bonded through our love of video games playing Halo and Super Smash Bros till the break of dawn, skiing with one another in Park City, Utah and kicking it in Hawaii over breaks. In 2018, I made a move to LA and that not only rekindled my relationship with Kyle but gave me an opportunity to become close to Maggie. Our fondest memories would come as we would come together every Sunday for family dinners in Culver City at my sister's (Cristin Lim) apartment or Kyle's. For a little about myself, I'm born and raised in Honolulu Hawaii and I currently work for the LA Clippers in their digital department. I'm an extreme sports advocate and will take any opportunity to travel. Cheers!

Cristin is Maggie's cousin-in-law; they are best friends and long lost sisters. They first met in 2015 when Maggie and Kyle were training to do a half marathon in Mendocino. She was impressed that Maggie's Chinese was 5x better than hers, and immediately knew that Maggie was special. They became best friends when Maggie and Kyle moved one block from her in Palms, Los Angeles. For three wonderful years, they cooked dinner together every Sunday, went grocery shopping, watched movies at the Landmark, and ate tons of pizza at their local jaunt, the Doughroom. Cristin and Maggie text constantly about life, politics, pop culture, cooking, and complicated cocktail recipes. She is also bitter that Kyle and Maggie are only ten minutes away from Joel (see Joel's bio above)

Kyle Kuwatani

Kuwa met Kyle in highschool freshman year P.E class. Since then over the next ten years, their relationship developed into something special. They have played music together all over LA, they have shared a room in a westwood apartment, they've grown into adulthood together, and most importantly they have always been able to count on each other through good times and bad. Kuwa is ecstatic that Kyle has found a partner as superb as Maggie and can't wait to be there for the next phase of their lives together.

Rachel and Maggie met the night they joined the same sorority at UVA. Their friendship grew quickly as they discovered a shared passion for watching SVU and the Olympics while eating full plates of bacon. They lived together in college - both in the sorority house and in "The Villa." Years they later traded places - Maggie moving to LA for grad school and Rachel to DC for law school. They miss each other every day!

Julian Palau

Kyle and Julian have spent countless hours together loading and unloading drums and bass amps in and out of cars but always had a real good time doing it. Although they lived in the same building freshman year it would be the love of music that brought them together through years of playing together in a band and eventually being roommates at their Junior and Senior year college apartment. Julian admires Kyles stellar music taste, freakishly strong hands from rock climbing, and most of all his amazing friendship.

Ida Knox

Ida and Maggie have known each other since 2010 when they both thought it would be a good idea to spend their college years studying for Chinese quizzes every night instead of learning how to drink responsibly. In 2012, they briefly studied abroad together in Shanghai, where Mags almost died physically and Ida did die emotionally. After graduation, they moved together to tiny rural towns in China where they spent their time gossiping about boys (Maggie is marrying one of those boys y'all!!!!) and trying to teach third-graders the alphabet. It was there in rural China that Ida got to witness the early years of Kyle and Maggie's love, which mostly involved sharing Trader Joe's snacks in sketchy hotels (shoutout to Dave Rank, the real MVP) and going on adventures. Since rural China, we have all gotten to visit each other in our many new homes, including Shanghai, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco! Ida is *thrilled* to be a part of the wedding party. She expects to look hot in her bridesmaid dress, be tired by 10 pm, and have everyone repeatedly tell her she has to rally all night. Seriously though, I can't imagine loving two people more or being more excited about a wedding and a marriage! You guys are both so wonderful and I am so honored and excited to be a part of your special day!

Kyle Ichikawa

Ichi met Kyle in UCLA's Japanese drumming group, and their friendship grew over four years of university. Both sharing an interest in the outdoors, Kyle first introduced Ichi to rock climbing on a trip to Bishop, CA at a wonderful place called the "happy boulders." Some of his favorite memories with Kyle and Maggie are: climbing mountains in the Sierras, attending their Christmas party, and working out at the gym after work.
